Abstract:
The study aimed to identify the concept of the widow as reflected in the Egyptian drama - the series Under Guardianship as a model. The current study relies on the case study method using the qualitative content analysis method.
The study population is represented in the contents of the Egyptian television dramas in which the widow appears, and the researcher deliberately chose the study sample represented in the series Taht El Wesaya.
The study reached a number of results, including:
- The diversity of the roles played by the widow in the TV drama as to the main roles and the secondary roles, although the study sample focused on the main role, while the educational level of the three models of widows was not clear. With regard to the economic level of the widow, as reflected in the TV drama that she lived in more than one economic level, followed by the low level, then the middle level. With regard to the nature of the widow's work as reflected in the TV drama: we find that she used to work in professions of a men's nature.
- The psychological characteristics of the widow were represented in a group of characteristics, including: feeling of frustration and despair, feeling of injustice and oppression, feeling of optimism and hope, and feeling of fear of the future.
- The positive behaviors of the widow were represented in patience and endurance, strength and solidity. While the negative behaviors of the widow, as reflected in the TV drama, was lying and stealing.
