Abstract:
This study aimed to explore the role of national events and activities in promoting national values and development. The current study adopts an inductive analytical methodology, beginning with the analysis of smaller elements, such as the impact of national events on shaping identity, and progressing toward a deeper understanding of how these events reinforce national values and their role in enhancing education and sustainable development.
The study provides an inductive analysis of qualitative data, including an analysis of national initiatives, as well as a review of the role of the UAE's wise leadership in strengthening national identity. It also highlights the relationship between these activities and the educational system, particularly higher education, emphasizing the pivotal role universities play in instilling national identity through curricula and extracurricular activities. Additionally, the study examines research gaps related to the impact of these activities on specific segments of society, such as youth, and the need to enhance comparative studies and academic documentation.
The findings revealed that national events significantly contribute to achieving the UAE's vision of fostering belonging and national identity, while also addressing the challenges of globalization and digital transformation. Higher education was identified as one of the primary means of linking national events to societal values, thereby contributing to the sustainable cultivation of national belonging.
The study recommends leveraging technology to enhance the impact of these activities and intensifying academic research to document their long-term effects on Emirati society. This would ensure the sustainability of national identity and further solidify the UAE's global standing.
