Abstract:
This study aimed to monitor the development of the field of organizational communication historically. In terms of its evolution and development, the development of its scientific heritage, the development of scientific research fields, and the development of scientific roots, as well as in terms of its future directions. This study is a descriptive study, and it relied on the historical method and Meta-Analysis. Thus; The study concluded with a number of general findings such as: 1- The study showed that, the roots of organizational communication go back to traditional rhetoric, and its modern historical roots could be traced back to the early nineteenth century. 2- The study revealed that, despite the historical roots of organizational communication, no early studies were carried out mainly by communication scientists, but these studies were conducted by academics in other scientific areas; such as: Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Administrative Science, and Management. 3- The study showed that, there are many foreign studies that dealt with organizational communication issues. 4- In contrast, the study showed relatively few Arab studies that dealt with organizational communication. 5- The study mentioned that, the future interest in this area will be in the study of new organizational structures, organizational change, diversity and communication among communities, and the impact of new technologies on the field… etc.
