Abstract:
Proceeding from the fact that the art of caricature is an eye that monitors errors and has a role in detecting negative phenomena, and helps in confronting them through the communicative messages it presents to influence the recipient in the light of his level of awareness, the current descriptive study aimed to reveal the implicit meanings, signs and semiological semantics that cartoonist used in describing the phenomenon domestic violence under search, depending on using semiological analysis tool and by applying it on a sample of 12 caricatures on the Youm7 website during the period from 2018 to 2021. The study concluded several results, including: the majority of the cartoons contained titles descriptive the content, and the caricature space was used to express the idea. convey the meaning of the meaning. All the contents of the cartoons also had various indications of the widening societal fear of the outbreak of the phenomenon of domestic violence.
