Abstract:
The study aimed to identify the frameworks used by the international news websites in the press coverage of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and its repercussions. This study belongs to the type of descriptive analytical studies. The study used the theory of analyzing media frameworks, and the survey methodology was also used for all press materials published on the two news websites "Russia Today" and "CNN". Thus, the study has paid attention to represent the most active parties in the Russian-Ukrainian Crisis and those with conflicting ideologies towards the Crisis; and it is then possible to compare two different currents, during the present period from 1/10/2022 AD to 31/10/2022 AD, which witnessed an increase in the pace of the crisis and its repercussions on many countries of the world, as the study concluded: The “frameworks of loss” channelized the list of frameworks used by the two sites of the study with 23.27%, as it is the most used framework on “Russia Today” website with 10.27%, while it came on “CNN” website with 9.09%, which is a logical result commensurate with the nature of the Russian-Ukrainian Crisis, which of course results in the human and economic losses, infrastructure, facilities, etc., which Russia was keen to show to prove its superiority in the war. The “Press News” channelized the journalistic templates used in presenting the topics related to the Russian-Ukrainian Crisis in the two sites of the study, as it came with 81.09%. This is due to the nature of the crisis and the escalating pace of its events and repercussions day after day, which requires intensive and immediate press coverage of the events.
