Abstract:
The study aimed to identify the nature of the relationship of students’ participation in the university theater at King Saud University and their personal traits. It also clarifies the reasons that motivate students to participate in the university theater. And the challenges facing the university theater. The study relied on the media survey method, through the use of the questionnaire as a tool for data collection. The study population represents the students who participated in theatrical performances at King Saud University during the period from 2000 AD to 2020 AD. By using a random sample of (52) students those who participated in the theatrical performances in the university theater at that period. The most important results of the study is: While there is no correlation with a statistical significance between the degrees of student participation in the university theater and his self-confidence, but there is a positive direction correlation with a statistical significance between the degrees of student participation in the university theater and both of: Taking responsibility, and emotional balance. The study also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the responses of the study members about personal traits (self-confidence, taking responsibility, and emotional balance) according to the type of college, number of theatrical performances participation, and number of directors of those shows, and there are no statistically significant differences in the responses of the study members about self-confidence according to age, But there are statistically significant differences in the responses of the study members about taking responsibility and emotional balance according to age. The most important recommendations of the study were to increase national interest in theater as a cultural, and to provide financial and administrative support University Theater.
